When you want the most error-free athlete tracking system for lap
counting and split generation, then Transponder technology is the
way to go.
The system is easy to use and powerful. Buried in the ice is a
simple antenna – to the naked eye it resembles nothing more
complex than a loop of cable. This antenna is connected to highly
sophisticated transponder detector, which is connected by a single
cable to the FinishLynx computer. The entire system weighs less than ten kilograms. Each
athlete carries a small transponder secured to a neoprene strap worn on their ankle. The
transponder is less than 3cm square and weighs just a few grams – it is comfortable and
almost unnoticeable when worn.
The splits generated are accurate to 1/1000th of a second and all split data collected is stored in
the FinishLynx software for later retrieval and analysis. It can also be sent instantly to
scoreboards and to CIS systems for announcers and broadcasters.
